My name is Chase Landre, and I’m crazy about kitchens and kitchen design!

The kitchen has always been my favorite room of the house. Not that I'm a gourmet cook. I just love being there...puttering around, hanging out, making a huge pot of something good, even cleaning up.

HOW I FELL INTO BECOMING A KITCHEN DESIGNER

Funny how life has a way of "accidentally" getting you where you're supposed to be.

I was a professional musician (rock 'n roll singer and keyboardist, jazz/blues singer and pianist, songwriter) till I turned 30.

Like most musicians, I sometimes had to have other jobs to support my music "habit."

One of those jobs made such an impact on my life that now, 30 years later, I've created a website about the profession I first fell in love with way-back-when and have been doing on and off ever since...kitchen design!

I was working during the day at a small home improvement center (and playing in a nightclub at night). Terrible at calculating board feet, I was relegated to departments like kitchen cabinets - where I blossomed designing people’s kitchens!

This was before kitchen design software...actually, before most people had PC's!

I went out to people's homes and measured, came back and drew up a design on graph paper, ordered their cabinets and arranged for installation.

I LOVED IT!

I learned about what works and what doesn’t...and discovered I had an intuitive gift of how to get everything the homeowner desired in a kitchen - and then make it even better. What a wonderful, satisfying profession!

HOW I FELL INTO CREATING KITCHEN DESIGN ANGEL

After "retiring" from the music biz (you gotta grow up sometime), I became a jewelry designer, and later a landscape designer...but never entirely gave up designing kitchens.

My husband Ken had a remodeling/handyman business and I often designed kitchens for his clients. (And still am for their friends, neighbors, co-workers, and relatives!)

I'm also a writer, photographer, and gardening columnist.

One day, while researching info to set up a little website for my most recently published book, "Snowbird Gardening - A Guide for South Florida's Winter Residents"...
