cabinet depth

I want to put in 42" high cabinets but I would like them 15" deep, I am told they do not come that way standard and are not considered to "code", what is proper?

MY ANSWER:

The problem with 15" deep cabinets is clearance - too easy to bump your head into them - and that's probably why they're not considered "to code."

Standard depth for upper cabs is 12" so if you still want deeper cabinets you'll have to have them custom made. I'd only use them in an area where no heads can be hurt...such as stacked right on top of lower cabinets.

Kitchen magazines are expensive - look through them in the grocery checkout line. If you see pix of a kitchen you really like, buy that magazine.
